Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Welsh released his professional reading list on Feb. 6. It includes nine books chosen by Welsh and three selected by CMSAF James Cody, as well as seven films, seven TED talks, web-based resources, artwork, and photography, according to a Feb. 6 release. “This year’s CSAF Reading List was designed to build understanding,” Welsh said in his message to airmen. “There are stories of airmen, fellow service members, and leaders from many different backgrounds.” The list is available here.
A new report from the Government Accountability Office calls for the Pentagon’s Chief Technology Officer to have budget certification authority over the military services’ research and development accounts—a move the services say would add a burdensome and unnecessary layer of bureaucracy.
