The Air Force is launching a digital edition of Airman Magazine, its official publication, geared specifically for Apple and Android tablet users. “This new format gives readers all the in-depth feature stories and spectacular photos they’ve come to expect from Airman Magazine and adds layers of multimedia content and interactivity only available through new publishing techniques,” said Preston Keres, Airman editor-in-chief, in a Nov. 1 release. The Air Force discontinued the print magazine and significantly reduced the magazine’s staff in 2011 due to budget cuts. However, service officials have been posting content for the past year on the magazine’s website, which will remain current even after the new digital tablet edition launches, states the release.
A dozen and a half Air Force Reservists formally transferred to the Space Force on July 15, becoming the new service’s first 18 part-time Guardians. The move is the culmination of more than two and a half years of work to create a system unlike any other military branch.
