Privatized Housing Problems:

The contractor working under privatized housing agreements at four bases—Hanscom AFB, Mass., Little Rock AFB, Ark., Moody AFB, Ga., and Patrick AFB, Fla., has run into serious trouble at all four projects. American Eagle Communities is one of several companies engaged in developing privatized housing at US military bases around the country; the others for the Air Force reportedly are on track. At Hanscom, American Eagle has completed only 17 houses in a plan that would produce 784 homes by November 2009. At Little Rock, the developer has completed 25 units, where it should have finished 122 new units and renovated another 513 by this time. Construction has stopped at Little Rock for “a lack of funds.” The work at Hanscom, Moody, and Patrick has been delayed, attributed primarily to poor cost estimating on the part of American Eagle.
