The Louisiana Air National Guard’s 159th Fighter Wing has received a digital upgrade—with the arrival of F-15Cs handed down from the active duty Air Force, reports Associated Press news service. The C models are replacing analog-electronics A models. In addition to the newer F-15s, the NAS JRB New Orleans-based unit is adding a jet engine maintenance facility that will work on aircraft engines from across the southeastern US, a result of last year’s BRAC process.
The two prototypes for the Air Force’s Collaborative Combat Aircraft program have started ground testing, Air Force Chief Staff Gen. David W. Allvin announced May 1, ahead of a planned first flight this summer.
