Iran has moved to protect an underground uranium enrichment facility by placing Russian-made advanced surface-to-air missiles at the site. Iranian state TV on Sunday reported that the country placed an S-300 surface-to-air missile defense system at its Furdow underground uranium enrichment facility, according to Reuters. “Our main priority is to protect Iran’s nuclear facilities under any circumstances,” Brig. Gen. Farzad Esmaili, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps air defense force, said on state TV. Enrichment has stopped at the site, which is located about 60 miles south of Tehran, since the US-brokered nuclear deal was implemented in January.
