Officials from the 455th Air Expeditionary Wing and Army and Air Force Exchange Service ceremoniously opened a new morale, welfare, and recreation facility at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan. The MWR, christened on April 1, sits at the site of the base’s old passenger terminal, which is across the street from the current terminal. It features a Pizza Hut, Subway sandwich shop, Green Bean Coffee shop, a Non-Appropriated Funds store, wireless Internet, and other comforts. “We created an environment where all the airmen, soldiers, sailors, marines, coalition partners, civilians, contractors, and other transient personnel can come and relax while they are awaiting their final destination, wherever that may be,” said Lt. Col. Katrina Stephens, commander of Bagram’s 455th Expeditionary Force Support Squadron. (Bagram report by TSgt. Vernon Cunningham)
The Air Force’s Hypersonic Attack Cruise Missile is behind schedule and may significantly overrun its expected cost, which could partially explain why the service is reviving the hypersonic AGM-183 Air-Launched Rapid-Response Weapon.
