Air Mobility Command has launched a new energy conservation website to highlight energy and fuel efficiency initiatives throughout the command. “Through a myriad of efforts, Air Mobility Command is doing its part to save the Air Force millions of dollars in energy costs,” reads the website’s welcoming introduction. It’s no secret that the Air Force is the largest consumer of energy in the Defense Department. AMC alone accounts for about 40 percent of USAF’s fuel use, expending some 477 million gallons of fuel annually, not including fuel consumption in Iraq and Afghanistan. Command officials have said they intend to save $500 million over the next five fiscal years by reducing fuel and energy consumption.
