Veterans who get phone calls from people claiming to represent the “Patient Care Group” of the VA should ignore those telephone pitches, says VA Secretary James Nicholson. This latest scam, originating in the Midwest, runs like this: The callers state that the VA has changed its procedures for dispensing prescriptions, and then they ask for personal financial information, such as credit card numbers. Nicholson says flatly, “VA has not changed its processes for dispensing prescription medicines.” He also emphasized that the VA “does not call veterans and ask them to disclose personal information over the phone.” Here’s more information.
