Combat veterans returning to civilian life and facing readjustment challenges have a resource to tap at Vet Centers throughout the US. And, the VA now staffs these centers with “global war on terror outreach technicians,”—themselves combat veterans. VA officials say there is no wait list, and the Vet Centers keep records and consultations strictly confidential. The Pentagon wants to rapidly acquire new technology for downing hostile drones over military bases in the U.S. without endangering nearby civilians or infrastructure. However, experts maintain that engaging drones near civilian areas will always present challenges that technology alone cannot solve.
