The American University’s School of Public Affairs released its “Best Places to Work” survey—a comprehensive ranking of federal government organizations based on the Office of Personnel Management’s Federal Human Capital Survey of 150,000 executive branch employees. The best place, according to the survey is the Office of Management and Budget. The Department of Defense enters the list at No. 14, with the Department of Homeland Security falling in at No. 29. The Air Force has embraced new technical approaches like open mission systems and rapid software updates for cutting-edge aircraft like the B-21 and Collaborative Combat Aircraft. Increasingly, though, the service is also working to apply these to its older, “legacy” aircraft, officials said this week.
