DOD Releases Sexual Assault Report: The Department of Defense recently released its second annual report from the Joint Task Force for Sexual Assault Prevention and Response. According to the Pentagon, the “climate of confidence” is building and programs to combat sexual assault in the military are working. DOD received 2,374 allegations of assault that involved a military member as either a victim or perpetrator in 2005, up 40 percent from 2004. Air Force Brig. Gen. K.C. McClain, commander of the JTF, said the jump likely reflects a willingness to report such assaults as opposed to a surge.
The last remaining T-1 Jayhawk at JBSA-Randolph, Texas, took its final flight to the "Boneyard" at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz., on July 15. The 99th Flying Training Squadron will train pilots using T-6 and simulator until it gets T-7 Red Hawk in fiscal 2026.
