In a move to conform to USAF’s organizational master plan, officials at the Space and Missile Systems Center, Los Angeles AFB, Calif., have changed unit and office designations, creating wings and groups in the place of program offices. The changes span the breadth of SMC’s responsibilities, including military communications and weather satellites, space launch and range operations, and test and development activities.
Lt. Gen. Douglas A. Schiess will be nominated by President Donald Trump as the next Chief of Space Operations, the service’s top uniformed leader, people familiar with the matter told Air & Space Forces Magazine.
