Air Mobility Command chief Gen. Duncan McNabb stopped by Yokota AB, Japan, during a nine-day tour of AMC operations across the Pacific, to say “thank you for the great work” of the 730th Air Mobility Squadron at Yokota. McNabb said: “When you think about the Pacific Rim and about its importance to our country … if we have to undertake combat operations, our ability to come through Yokota becomes absolutely essential.”
The Air Force has embraced new technical approaches like open mission systems and rapid software updates for cutting-edge aircraft like the B-21 and Collaborative Combat Aircraft. Increasingly, though, the service is also working to apply these to its older, “legacy” aircraft, officials said this week.
