The Air Intelligence Agency formally has become the Air Force Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Agency, a field operating agency aligned under the Air Staff’s A2, Lt. Gen. David Deptula, deputy chief of staff for ISR. According to a June 21 release, the formal ceremony took place at Lackland AFB, Tex., on June 15—not June 8 as previously expected—with Air Combat Command boss, Gen. Ronald Keys officiating. AIA was aligned under ACC.
Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Kenneth S. Wilsbach told lawmakers Apr. 30 that the service’s biggest airlifter, the C-5 Galaxy, has a 37 percent mission capable rate—one of several challenges facing the mobility fleet.
