The 754th Electronic Systems Group at Maxwell AFB, Ala., has activated a software center of excellence and awarded a contract for $10 million worth of security protection—all part of the Air Force effort to gain master over cyber operations. Monica Morales reports that the group, which is part of Electronic Systems Center at Hanscom AFB, Mass., activated the Air Force Application Software Assurance Center of Excellence at Maxwell’s Gunter Annex, last month to examine and develop best practices for network and Web-based application security and now has awarded Telos Corp. a contract to provide technology to help identify, protect, and monitor applications.
The Air Force wants to spend more than a half billion dollars through 2031 on a new protection system designed for cargo and refueling aircraft that features onboard sensors and weapons to track and take down enemy missiles and drones.
