Remember the old Citizen Watch days? The Air Force Office of Special Investigation has reinvented that effort, calling their new program Eagle Eyes. OSI is moving the program out to the civilian populace surrounding Air Force bases. In Valdosta, Ga., home of Moody Air Force Base, the OSI team works with area law enforcement officials, but they also are co-opting local businesses to become “watchdogs” for suspicious activity near the base, reports the Valdosta Times. OSI agent Christian Thomasson told the Times, “This is a community watch program. People wake up and know … if something doesn’t fit in.”
The Air Force plans to add external weapons pylons on the B-1B bomber, both to increase the number of aircraft that can test hypersonic missiles and expand the Lancer’s loadout as USAF transitions to the B-21 bomber.
