Pacific Air Forces closed out Red Flag Alaska 07-2 on June 15 after two weeks during which “every participating unit [got] an opportunity to plan, lead, and debrief some of the most complex missions that you can find anywhere in the world,” says Col William Wignall, the exercise Air Expeditionary Wing commander. While none of the major aircraft contractors were selected to develop the Collaborative Combat Aircraft, all three say they are seeking further autonomous aircraft work for the Navy, foreign partners, or in the classified arena, and maybe future versions of the CCA itself.
