Union firefighters who work at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, are crying foul over an Air Force plan to cut some 25 percent of the firefighter jobs, reports the Dayton Daily News. A base official told the newspaper that the base had decided it could mange with fewer firefighters on base by relying on neighboring civic fire services.
A top Pentagon tech official called on industry this week to help the military develop “lighter, more efficient” directed energy weapons designed to go on aircraft and conduct special operations missions or down drones—areas where the Air Force’s directed energy efforts have been quiet as of late.
