The Senate, in a flurry of action May 19, confirmed stars and new jobs for Lt. Gen. William M. Fraser III, Maj. Gen. James G. Roudebush, and Maj. Gen. Norman R. Seip Fraser retains his three stars and is to become the assistant to the JCS Chairman. Roudebush receives a third star and takes over as the Air Force Surgeon General. Seip will gain a star and move to command of 12th Air Force and US Southern Command Air Forces, headquartered at Davis-Monthan AFB, Ariz.
The Air Force has embraced new technical approaches like open mission systems and rapid software updates for cutting-edge aircraft like the B-21 and Collaborative Combat Aircraft. Increasingly, though, the service is also working to apply these to its older, “legacy” aircraft, officials said this week.
