MSgt. David John and A1C Adam Giran, both with the 3rd Security Forces Squadron, Elmendorf AFB, Alaska, received Bronze Stars for actions during deployment to Iraq with the Army’s Det. 2632, 457th Transportation Battalion at Logistical Support Area Anaconda in Balad. On March 30, 2005, when Giran’s convoy came under attack from IEDs, he instructed his driver to pull up along the other vehicles, handed off his gunner duties and took his Combat Life Saver kit with him to give aid to injured personnel. John was honored for his service as flight leader and convoy commander during his six-month deployment, leading convoys, delivering equipment and supplies to various bases through Iraq.
