There are 1,512 active duty enlisted airmen that the Air Force has marked for involuntary retraining in Fiscal 2008. Once on this list, the airmen must formally certify by Dec. 17 their willingness to retrain, and they must then apply for a new career field from an approved list by Jan. 31. Top Lawmakers Want 15 Percent Pay Raise for Enlisted Troops

A new law introduced by Congress would raise the pay rate 15 percent for junior enlisted troops and seek improvements on a range of quality of life issues, such as pay and compensation, child care, housing, health care access, and military spouse employment.
