Air Combat Command must select 500 enlisted active-duty airmen—technical sergeant and below—to retrain from their current career fields, now that the service has entered, what it calls Phase II, or involuntary retraining, of the NCO Retraining Program for Fiscal 2008. ACC had 902 airmen of USAF’s total 1,512 in the target retraining group. According to ACC officials, 402 airmen volunteered to retrain into undermanned fields. (ACC report by TSgt. Russell Wicke)
